Elite Panic and the U.S. Constitution

The United States government you know today was actually a panic move by wealthy elites.

Before the Constitution, we had the Articles of Confederation, and it was a total disaster.

It was basically a friendship league that couldn't collect taxes or pay back war debts.

When broke farmers started rebelling, rich property owners got scared and met in Philadelphia

to seize control. They scrapped the old system and built a new one designed to be strong enough

to collect money but complicated enough to prevent too much democracy. That is exactly

why we still have the Electoral College today.
