As an undergrad with no clear life goal, I've always struggled with studying,
mostly because I love to procrastinate. This week's material gave me simple answers about why I get
stuck. I learned my brain has two main gears: Focused (for things I know) and Diffuse
(for new ideas). I used to try solving hard, new problems only by forcing the Focused
gear, which is like running into a wall. I realized I need to embrace the Diffuse
Mode—stepping away, walking, or showering—to let my brain work on things in the
background. My breaks are actually necessary processing time, not just me avoiding
work. This insight helps me tackle my biggest enemy: procrastination. When a task looks
