Your body has tiny protein machines that speed up life's reactions by millions of times.
These are enzymes, and they're incredibly specific. Think of it like a lock and key.
Each enzyme has an active site, a uniquely shaped dock where only one specific molecule,
the substrate, can fit. But it gets cooler. The "induced fit" theory suggests
the enzyme is flexible, changing its shape to create the perfect hug for the substrate, like a glove molding
to a hand. This connection makes reactions happen effortlessly. These enzymes are
constantly working, but high temperatures or inhibitors can break or block them, shutting the whole
system down.
