Your entire reality exists because Europe spent four centuries having a massive identity crisis.
It started when the Renaissance decided humans were actually interesting, not just sinners.
Then the printing press dropped, and Martin Luther went viral roasting the Church,
which sparked religious wars for decades. Kings like Louis XIV tried to flex absolute power with
fancy palaces, but the Enlightenment hit and people finally chose science over superstition.
That logic led straight to the French Revolution, where they literally decapitated the old system.
We eventually traded farms for factories, swapping feudal lords for corporate bosses,
but at least we got democracy out of the mess.
