Modern female comedy is single-handedly driving the fourth wave of feminism. Shows like Fleabag
and Girls aren't just funny, they are rewriting the rules on sex and consent.
Unlike older generations who demonized porn, comedians today admit they watch it while still critiquing
how it warps our view of intimacy. They are using humor to expose rape culture in a way that actually
reaches people. But there is a massive blind spot here. This movement is incredibly white.
While Amy Schumer and Lena Dunham opened doors, they often fail at intersectionality.
We need to be hyping shows like Insecure just as much, because a feminism that ignores the
experience of women of color is barely feminism at all.
