Freedom, Purpose, and Moral Choice

You are absolutely doomed to be free and there is no escape. Sartre argued that

because you have no built-in blueprint, you are forced to invent yourself every single second,

which is why existence feels so terrifying. But then you have Aquinas saying you are actually a perfect

composite of soul and matter designed with a specific purpose. It gets even messier

when you try to be good. Do you follow strict rules like Kant, or just calculate

the consequences like a Utilitarian? Basically, you have to decide if you are a divine

design or just making it all up as you go.
