Believe it or not, doctors once used frogs for pregnancy tests. They would inject
a woman's urine into a male frog, and if the frog produced sperm within a few hours,
it meant she was pregnant. This was just one of many wild lab procedures.
Scientists also studied nerve signals by dissecting a frog's sciatic nerve, hanging it on electrodes,
and zapping it with electricity to see the response on an oscilloscope. From these strange
beginnings to tapping your knee with a reflex hammer and measuring your heart's activity with an
ECG, these foundational experiments paved the way for modern medicine.
