Your vote might not matter because of districts shaped like salamanders. It’s called gerrymandering,
and it’s how politicians rig elections. The party in power redraws voting maps into bizarre shapes
to control the outcome. They pack their opponents' voters into a few districts, so they lose big
there. Then, they spread their own supporters across many other districts
to win those by a slim margin. This strategy allows them to capture a majority of seats,
even if they don’t get a majority of the total votes. So, politicians are
choosing their voters, not the other way around.
