Your daily coffee costs more than what forty percent of the planet lives on for an entire
day. This massive gap is called global stratification. We used to label
countries as First or Third World, but those terms are dead; now it is strictly about
the money. Here is the reality check. Wealthy nations make up only one-sixth
of the population yet control eighty percent of the world's riches. Meanwhile,
half the globe lives in poor nations, often relying on a single crop just to survive.
It is terrifying to think your entire quality of life basically depends on which side of
a border you were born on.
