Gravity in Space: The Truth About Weightlessness

Astronauts on the Space Station are not floating because there is zero gravity. That is a total

lie. The gravity up there is actually almost as strong as it is right here on

the ground. Isaac Newton figured this out centuries ago when he realized that an apple falling

from a tree and the moon orbiting the Earth are obeying the exact same physical laws.

The moon is just falling sideways really fast. That weightless feeling isn't a

lack of gravity, it is the sensation of constant free fall. Orbiting is literally

just throwing yourself at the ground and missing.
