Hormonal Treatments Overview

Estrogens: Conjugated estrogens, estradiol, estrone, estriol,

ethinyl estradiol — used for hormone replacement therapy, menopause symptoms, hypogonadism,

contraception, osteoporosis prevention, and palliation in some cancers. Progestins: Norethindrone,

medroxyprogesterone, drospirenone, levonorgestrel, norgestrel, progesterone — used

for contraception, abnormal uterine bleeding, amenorrhea, fertility programs,

emergency contraception, and certain cancers. SERMs (Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulators): Raloxifene,

tamoxifen — used for postmenopausal osteoporosis and reducing breast cancer risk.
