Humanity's Unsustainable Growth Cycle

Your biological purpose is to reproduce until you literally take over the entire planet.

It is called biotic potential, and every species tries to do it, from bacteria to

elephant seals. Usually, nature slaps them down with starvation or predators,

forcing a limit called carrying capacity. But sometimes, a species eats way

too much, explodes in numbers, and then suffers a massive die-off. It is called a boom-and-bust

cycle. Here is the scary part. Humans are currently cheating the system.

We used technology to artificially raise our limit, but biology says exponential growth

never lasts forever. We either level off soon, or we are the next bust.
