If Earth Stopped Spinning

If Earth suddenly stopped spinning nothing would stay where it is. Right now,

Earth spins at over 1,600 kilometers per hour. We don’t feel it because everything

moves together. If it suddenly stopped, the oceans wouldn’t stop. They would surge

across continents, creating planet-wide tsunamis. The atmosphere would keep moving too.

Winds faster than hurricanes would rip across the surface. Over time,

half the planet would face endless daylight. The other half permanent night.

Temperatures would become extreme. Earth would still exist. But the world we

know wouldn’t. The spin of Earth is what keeps life stable.
