Laser Device Reads Blood Sugar Without Needles

The days of painful finger pricking for diabetes are officially numbered. Scientists just

built a portable device that uses lasers to read your blood sugar through your skin without

ever touching a drop of blood. It utilizes something called Band-Pass Raman Spectroscopy.

Basically, the laser shines into your arm, ignores the skin reflection,

and locks onto the specific light signature of the glucose molecules inside you. They tested this

against the leading needle-based sensors like Dexcom, and the accuracy was nearly identical.

No more needles, no more expensive patches. This is the non-invasive holy grail we have

been waiting for.
