The Fall of Ibrahim Lodi

The last Sultan of Delhi was so arrogant, his own governor invited a foreign

army just to get rid of him. This was Ibrahim Lodi, the final ruler

of the Lodi Dynasty. Unlike his predecessors, he treated his powerful nobles with total disrespect,

creating enemies within his own court. One of these nobles, the governor of Punjab,

got so fed up that he sent an invitation to Babur, a warlord from Central Asia,

asking for help. Babur accepted, but he wasn't just coming to help—he came to conquer.

At the legendary Battle of Panipat, Babur’s small, disciplined army with cannons completely

crushed Ibrahim Lodi’s massive force. That single battle ended the 300-year-old Delhi Sultanate
