When your blood glucose level drops below four millimoles per litre, this is called hypoglycemia
and commonly referred to as a hypo. You will learn to recognise your own hypo symptoms,
which can include shaking, sweating, dizziness, hunger,
blurry vision, difficulty concentrating, and feeling anxious. You should treat a hypo immediately.
If you are 50 kilograms or more, you should treat a hypo by eating or drinking around
15 to 20 grams of fast-acting carbohydrates, such as four to five dextrose or glucose tablets;
60 millilitres or one glucose shot drink; 170 millilitres Lucozade Original Energy; three to
four jelly babies; or 150 to 200 millilitres Original Coke or processed fruit juice.
