Mantis Shrimp’s Unseen Color World

The mantis shrimp possesses sixteen color receptors while humans only have three.

Each eye moves independently, scanning for prey and predators simultaneously. This creature perceives ultraviolet and

polarized light, dimensions of color completely invisible to us. What we see as a

simple coral reef, the mantis shrimp experiences as an explosion of colors and patterns we

cannot even imagine. Their reality is fundamentally different from ours, proving that what

we call vision is just one limited interpretation of the world around us.
