Biology stopped being a guessing game the moment we started sequencing individual cells.
Back in the day, scientists had to manually pick rare cells just to see what was happening
inside, but now droplet technology lets us process ten thousand cells in a single
reaction. It is a massive data challenge. We have to use complex algorithms just
to clean up the ambient soup and separate the good cells from the bad ones.
We are using this tech to build the Human Cell Atlas, which is basically a Google Maps for
the human body. We are finally seeing life at the ultimate resolution.
