we’re talking Marxist hip-hop in Pakistan. This presentation looks at a trio called the Daranti
Group: Hassan Amin, aka Polymath, Dr. Jamal Alvi, and Haivaan. They use hip-hop
as a weapon—yeah, a weapon—to talk about class struggle, power, and resistance in
Pakistani society. To analyze their music, we’re applying Teun van Dijk’s Critical
Discourse Analysis. Basically, while your eyes are dodging trains, we’re breaking down
how their lyrics construct ideology, challenge power, and expose the system. So if you miss a
point, rewind—but don’t blame us, blame Subway Surfers. Let’s begin
