Credit cards aren't actually made of plastic anymore. Most modern cards are constructed
from a combination of PVC and metals like copper or aluminum. These metals make your card tap to
pay work through something called RFID technology. The chip in your card can store over
one hundred times more information than the old magnetic stripe. That black stripe
on the back could only hold about sixty characters of data. Your card's expiration
date isn't random either. Banks intentionally set them to expire so they can send
you updated security features every few years.
