Nanga Pinoh: A Renewable Energy Hub

In the year 2145, the town of Nanga Pinoh had grown into a modern center of renewable energy

on the banks of the Pinoh River. A hundred years earlier, in 2045,

the local government and community built a small hydroelectric power plant to provide electricity for

the inland areas. Basic turbines, a concrete dam, and a manual control system were used

at the beginning. A young engineer named Damar Irawan helped design it and often said that

one day the river’s water would power the future.
