to Steve: "Don't tear us apart. I don't want to be alone again." This shows that

her later betrayal at the airport wasn't a sudden impulse, but a calculated decision by someone

trying at all costs to keep her adopted family together. It adds incredible depth to her character.

Her choice becomes even more painful. It was a last, desperate attempt to save what was

left of her only family.
