Number Line Fractions

Let’s look at a number line from zero to one. We divide this

line into five equal parts each part equals one fifth. This marker will

help us show a fraction. We want to move it to the third division

that’s three out of five, or three fifths. Watch the marker glide smoothly to

the third tick stopping at three fifths. That position means three out of

five equal parts we call it three-fifths. So on the number line,
