Operation Fortitude: The Fake Army

1944. The Allies needed a way to fool Hitler, so they built an entire fake army.

Inflatable tanks, wooden planes, fake radio chatter, even a corpse carrying false invasion plans.

Operation Fortitude convinced German commanders the main attack would hit Pas-de-Calais,

not Normandy. While Hitler waited for the real invasion, Allied forces landed on D-Day and broke

through. A deception of decoys and fake signals helped change the course of the war.
