Operation Midway Blitz: Controversy and Arrests

Federal agents in Chicago’s blitz known as Operation Midway Blitz have made over 1800 arrests

since early September according to the Department of Homeland Security.Their lead enforcer Gregory

Bovino called the use of force exemplary despite growing criticism that agents deployed tear gas

and pepper balls even at peaceful protesters and journalists.A federal judge has now ordered Bovino

to appear daily for briefings at 6 p.m.and to submit detailed use-of-force reports after evidence

emerged of aggressive tactics including deployments at a Halloween parade and neighborhood

stops. Local leaders say the Chicago operation came without coordination.Illinois’ governor and Chicago’s
