Before a private pilot can legally fly an airplane, there are four required pilot documents
that must be carried. A good way to remember them is with the acronym P.A.R.E. First,
the pilot must carry their pilot certificate, such as a Private Pilot License. This proves the
pilot is properly trained and certified to fly.” Second is a valid medical certificate.
For private pilots, this is usually a Third-Class Medical, which confirms the pilot is medically
fit to operate an aircraft.” Third, the pilot must have a government-issued photo ID,
like a driver’s license or passport. This is used to verify the pilot’s identity.” Lastly,
the pilot must have any required endorsements. These are written approvals from an instructor for specific
