Your intuition is lying to you and raw data is the only truth. I’m deep in the
trenches studying for a policy stats midterm and the examples are actually unhinged.
We aren't just doing boring equations; we are calculating if raising alcohol taxes in Maryland
actually stopped the spread of gonorrhea. Spoiler alert, it did. Then I’m reading
a British Medical Journal study using traffic data to prove if Friday the 13th is actually
dangerous. It’s wild that we use regression models to predict birth weights and human
behavior. I might fail this exam, but at least I know why liquor taxes
prevent STDs.
