Your favorite fast food burger might be the product of modern-day slavery. A massive investigation
just revealed that US prisoners are the hidden workforce behind huge brands like McDonald’s,
Walmart, and Frosted Flakes. This isn't just stamping license plates.
In places like Louisiana, inmates are working on the grounds of former slave plantations, harvesting crops
and raising cattle for pennies an hour or literally zero pay. If they refuse,
they face solitary confinement. This agricultural empire feeds into the supply chains
of giant corporations and it is all legal because the Constitution bans slavery except as punishment for
