Mess up as a professional engineer in Ontario, and they will publish your name for everyone to see.
Seriously. The Professional Engineers Act isn't playing around. If the Discipline
Committee finds you guilty of professional misconduct or being incompetent, they can revoke
your license. But they don't stop there. The committee is legally required
to publish the order, with your name, in the official engineering publication for all your peers
to see. They can even fine you up to $5,000. It’s all about protecting the public,
since engineering is defined as safeguarding life, health, and property.
