Most people think psychology is just lying on a couch talking about feelings, but it is actually
a hardcore science. It started back in the 1800s when Wilhelm Wundt built a lab to measure
the speed of thought. Then Freud made it famous by claiming your unconscious mind runs the show,
while behaviorists like Skinner argued we are just trained animals reacting to rewards.
We went from studying souls to studying rats to finally treating the brain like a complex computer.
Today, psychology explains everything from why you dream to why you follow the
crowd. It is basically the scientific pursuit of figuring out why humans are so
weird.
