Queensland just canceled its plan to release millions of genetically modified mosquitoes after

the public completely rejected it. The organization behind the project pulled out following

massive pushback from residents who weren't having it. These weren't ordinary mosquitoes.

They were engineered to suppress wild populations by passing on genes that kill offspring.
