Reflections of an Antihero

I filmed my ex in a café three months after we broke up. Black and white footage,

slow motion, just watching him through the window reflection. His hands wrapped

around a coffee cup the same way he used to hold mine. Smoke curling between

us like all the words we never said. I captured his eyes looking somewhere far away,

probably at memories we both carried differently. The light hit his face and for a second

I saw both the person who destroyed me and the only one who ever truly got me.

That's when I realized my antihero wasn't some fictional character. He was real. Flawed and beautiful

and wrong for me in every right way. Sometimes the person who breaks your heart is the same
