Refused Amtrak Seat Swap Request

So this happened last weekend and I’m still thinking about it. I booked a 6-hour

Amtrak ride to visit my parents. I’m tall (6’3”) and paid extra for an aisle seat with

more legroom because I knew I’d be miserable otherwise. I board early, get settled,

headphones in, all good. About ten minutes before departure, a couple gets on.

They’re probably mid-30s and seem nice enough. The woman sits next to me in the window

seat, and her partner is across the aisle but one row back. After a few minutes,

she taps me and asks if I’d be willing to switch seats so she can sit next to her partner.

I politely ask which seat, and she points to the one across the aisle behind me.
