Refusing to Cover Friend’s Trip Share

AITA? for canceling a trip and ruining it for everyone? My friends and I planned a group

trip for months. Everyone agreed to split costs evenly. A week before we were supposed to

go, one friend admitted he hadn’t saved any money. He asked if we could

all cover his share and said he’d pay us back later. No one else spoke up,

so I said I wasn’t comfortable with that. I’ve loaned him money before,

and I never got it back. The conversation got awkward, and eventually the
