Remembering Christ’s Death, Not Birthdays

“The Bible never records Jesus celebrating His birthday, nor does it command believers to observe

it. In fact, Scripture does not even give the date of Jesus’ birth

(Luke 2). Jesus instructed His followers to remember His death, not His birth,

saying, ‘Do this in remembrance of Me’ (Luke 22:19). The early Christians followed this teaching

and did not celebrate birthdays, which were commonly linked to pagan customs (Genesis

40:20; Matthew 14:6). The Bible teaches that true worship is guided by God’s Word,

not tradition (Mark 7:7–9). The lesson is this: Believers are called to honor Christ

as Scripture teaches—not according to customs the Bible never commands.”
