Remembering Grandpa with Laughter

My grandfather died yesterday and my best friend couldn't stop laughing. I called him crying,

barely able to speak, telling him grandpa passed away in his sleep. Instead of comfort,

I heard snorting through the phone. He was laughing. Not a nervous giggle, full belly laughs.

I hung up, furious and heartbroken. He showed up at my door an hour later,

still chuckling, and I almost slammed it in his face. Then he explained. Apparently,

the last time we all hung out, my grandpa told him a joke and made him promise to laugh

every time he thought about him. My grandpa knew he didn't have much time left and wanted

to be remembered with joy, not tears. Now every time I think about grandpa,
