Philippine architecture is literally the ultimate survival guide against nature. It didn't just start
with the Spanish, because our ancestors were already engineering the Bahay Kubo, a genius design
that breathes with the tropical heat and bends with typhoons. When colonizers tried building rigid
European stone churches, earthquakes kept knocking them down, so we forced them to adapt into Earthquake
Baroque with insanely thick walls and buttresses. Then came the modern era where architects
like Locsin turned heavy concrete into floating art. It is not just about shelter,
it is about a culture that constantly reinvents itself to withstand anything nature throws at
it.
