The entire concept of the Dark Ages is actually just a smear campaign started by Renaissance
haters. They wanted to look enlightened, so they painted the medieval era
as a time of zero creativity where religion crushed reason. But the reality
is way messier. In the West, monks were actually using intense logic to analyze faith.
Meanwhile, in the Islamic world, philosophers like Al-Farabi flipped the script entirely.
He argued that philosophy was actually the master, and religion was just a symbolic
tool to help the masses behave. Far from being a time of mediocrity, this era literally
invented the university system we still use today.
