Rylie and the Evil Hair of Doom (A visually ridiculous tale for brave Grade 2 readers)

It began on a morning so ordinary it squeaked. The sky was a smooth blue crayon streak, sunlight tip-toeing

through Rylie’s pink-and-purple curtains. Her alarm clock blinked 7:00 A.M.,

but her hair had been awake for hours… plotting. When Rylie yawned and sat up,

her hair moved first. One curl leapt straight up like a question mark trying to escape grammar class.

Another zig-zagged sideways and pointed dramatically toward her hamster’s cage. Within seconds,

a thousand tiny strands were shooting out in every possible direction, glowing in the sunlight

like a golden-brown thundercloud of chaos. Her brush trembled on the dresser.
