Stars Outnumber Grains of Sand

Did you know? The universe has more stars than grains of sand on every beach on Earth.

Scientists estimate there are roughly 200 billion trillion stars out there, which is a number

so big your brain can't even process it. If you tried counting one star per second,

it would take you trillions of years to finish. Meanwhile, all the beaches

and deserts on our entire planet only have about 7.5 quintillion grains of sand. That means for every

single grain you can hold in your hand, there are thousands of burning suns

somewhere in space. We're living on a tiny rock with some sand while the cosmos is packed

with more stars than we have dirt.
