A company's owners tried to rescue it with a special loan, and ended up losing

every single penny. This is the SunPower story. The solar company was getting hammered

by policy changes and high interest rates. So its controlling sponsors gave it

a high-interest "rescue" loan, hoping for a huge payday if things turned around.

It was a massive gamble that completely backfired. The company went bankrupt anyway

and had a fire sale. The sale brought in so little cash that the main banks only got back 8%

of their money. And those owners who tried the rescue? They got zero. Wiped out.
