Survival Cardio at Eight

Being a kid is hard. You’re constantly experiencing new things you’re not equipped to handle.

Some kids have it harder than others — I got the hood version. I was like eight

years old, riding my bike, just being a kid. No headphones. No phone.

No worries. And out of nowhere, I hear footsteps behind me. I turn around… and

it’s other kids sprinting toward me. And not to race. To take my bike.

While I’m still on it. I’m pedaling for my life, crying,

looking over my shoulder like it’s a National Geographic special. David Attenborough

in my head like, “And here we see the young child fleeing predators…” That wasn’t exercise.
