Your body has a wild survival trick for extreme heat. You know how you get flushed when
you're hot? That's your body sending blood to your skin to cool down.
But when it's hotter outside than your actual body temperature, that plan backfires. Sending blood to
the surface would just heat it up even more! So your body does the opposite: it
constricts those blood vessels, keeping your blood away from the scorching surface to protect
your core. It then relies entirely on sweating to cool you down. It's all part of
homeostasis, your body's incredible internal thermostat.
