Some animals, like bats and hummingbirds, can literally switch between being warm-blooded and cold-blooded.
When they're active, they generate their own body heat. But to save massive amounts of energy
while resting, they let their body temperature drop to match their surroundings. It's an incredible
survival hack. This adaptation isn't unique. Marine iguanas sneeze out excess salt
to survive in the ocean. Desert plants have tiny or waxy leaves to prevent water
loss. Every living thing has these amazing, built-in strategies to interact with
the non-living world, proving that survival is all about adaptation.
