Full text from the video
Your brain is the reason you take risks as a teen. It's not about being reckless; it's biology.
Your brain's emotional center, the limbic system, is on overdrive, chasing rewards
and excitement. Meanwhile, the part for rational decisions, your prefrontal
cortex, is still under construction. This mismatch creates that feeling that everyone is watching
you—the "imaginary audience"—and the belief that you're invincible, known as the "personal
fable." And get this: this whole stage isn't just a few years anymore.
It now stretches from age 10 all the way into your early 20s.
