The Call From Inside My House

I’m Jessica, and I’m home alone tonight. Or… at least I thought I was.

It was 1:43 a.m. when my phone rang. No name. No number. Just… ringing.

I stared at it for a moment. Then I answered. All I heard was breathing.

Slow. Heavy. Too close. “Hello?” I whispered. The breathing stopped.

Then a voice said: “Why are you in my house?” My stomach dropped. “I think you called

the wrong person,” I said. Silence. Then… footsteps. Through the phone.

Slow. Creaking. My heart was pounding. I locked my door. Checked the hallway.

Nothing. Just as I relaxed… my phone buzzed. A message: “I’m behind you.”
