The Divine Hair Offering at Tirupati

Long ago, when Lord Vishnu descended to Earth as Tirupati Balaji, He chose to live

quietly inside an ant hill. Every day, a cow would come and pour her milk

over the ant hill as an offering. Lord Tirupati, living inside, would drink the

milk with divine grace. One day, the owner of the cow noticed that

she was giving her milk near the hill and became furious, thinking it was being wasted.

In anger, he struck the cow with his axe, but at that very moment,

Lord Tirupati appeared to protect the innocent animal. The axe hit the Lord’s head,

causing a wound, and some of His hair fell off, leaving a mark on His beautiful form.
