Countries do not fight over territory just for cash or oil. We are taught that
wars happen because of power politics and resources, but that is actually a massive misconception.
The real driver of conflict is feelings. It is called the normative approach. Nations fight because
of a subjective sense of justice, historical grudges, and national identity. It is not about
the strategic value of an island; it is about the story they tell themselves. We keep trying to
solve these issues with logic and money, but you cannot buy your way out of a bruised national
ego.
