The Endless Walk

I have been walking down this dark, cobblestone street for what feels like

an eternity. The fog is so thick I can barely see my own hands,

yet he is always there. A lone shadowy figure, standing perfectly still

under a flickering yellow streetlamp in the distance. I try to run toward him,

but the road just stretches longer with every step I take. He hasn't moved.

He hasn't breathed. He is just waiting for the light to finally fail.
