The Essential Role of the Golgi Apparatus

Hello everyone! Today, I will be sharing true information about the Golgi

Apparatus. The Golgi modifies, sorts, and packages proteins and lipids made

by the ER, sending them to their correct destinations inside or outside the cell.

But it doesn’t stop there! The Golgi also produces lysosomes, builds and repairs

parts of the cell membrane, controls secretion of hormones and enzymes,

and produces complex sugars. So, what would happen if the Golgi didn’t

exist? Proteins wouldn’t be properly modified, leading to misfolded or inactive proteins.

No lysosomes would be made, causing waste to pile up inside the cell.
